Preamble
We
are grateful to the Almighty God for his favor and faithfulness to us during
the Ugenya Mission 2012.
The
mission held at Nyanza province, Ugenya district, Luthehe Center from 2nd
June to 10th June 2012 brought together over 70 missioners from
across the campuses of the University of Nairobi as they responded to God’s
call in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
This
Mission had its emphasis from Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that
now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than
when we believed”. Thorough evangelism took place which saw 176(documented)
locals come to Christ and about 150 pupils and students also giving their lives
to Christ, totaling to 326 souls.
Aware
of the holistic gospel of Jesus Christ, we considered the social, physical and
emotional need of the Ugenya people by doing a thorough treatment to school going
children infected by jiggers.
We
are currently working on a follow up program to be held on August 24th
to 26th 2012 to evaluate effectiveness of this Mission on the Ugenya
community. We also emphasized on the need of the local pastors and the mature
believers to nurture the new believers to spiritual maturity.
We
appreciate all our donors for their generous support that helped us realize all
these; we know that many lives have been transformed and many others will as a
result of this mission.

transportation.
5.
Ugenya draws its population from a wide ethnic
divide, tradition practice is widely embraced and the major economic activity
in the area is farming.

Witchcraft, drug abuse, poverty and disunity
among church leaders were some of the strongholds in the land.

4.0 THE UGENYA MISSION ACTIVITIES
a) Door to Door Witnessing
Missioners
visited the locals in their homes to share the gospel of Jesus Christ daily
from 4th to 9th June from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The result
was an overwhelming harvest of souls. Signs and miracles also followed as
missioners testified of the sick receiving healing and demons being cast out.
b)
Open Air Crusades
The
crusades took place daily from 4th to 9th June from
3:00pm to 6:00pm. The crusades were effective as the locals turned up in large
numbers and many received Christ.
c)
Revival Meetings
We
held revival meetings in a big tent that was pitched in A.C.K church compound. Revival
meetings were held daily from 2nd to 9th June 7:00pm to
9:00pm and we experienced a great visitation from God.
d)
Children and Youth Ministry
This
Ministry’s major mandate was to:
·
To
minister to pupils and students on spiritual and academic excellence.
·
To teach
moral values to the youth and encourage them to embrace diligence at work.
In
addition to successfully fulfilling its mandate, Missioners in this Ministry :
1.
Arranged to treat children with jiggers
immediately after crusades.
2.
Organized visits to Luthehe Primary School to treat
children infected by jiggers.
e)
Church Visitations
Missioners
were invited to different local churches on Sunday 3rd and 10th
June to minister God’s Word. The Churches that we were able to visit include: Nazarene
Church (Host church), Anglican Church of Kenya, Mass Tabernacle, House of
Prayer, Church of Christ, among others.
f)
Pastors Conference and Discipleship Programmes
A
Conference for Pastors of Local churches and Church leaders was held on
Thursday 7th and Friday 8th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. It is
at this conference that emphasis was made to them on the need to nurture the
new believers to spiritual maturity.
Missioners
were also privileged to be part of the Conference on Friday 8th from
9:00am to 1:00pm. Thanks to Rev. Ishmael Kotieno who was a great blessing
during the conferences.
5.0 ANALYSIS
5.1 Effectiveness of the Mission
1.
All missioners participated fully in the
organized activities.
2.
Division of roles to different people made
activities run smoothly.
3.
About 176 people (documented) and 150 school-going
children, a total of 326 souls received Christ.
4.
Church leaders were brought together. We met
leaders from Gospel Church, Nazarene Church, House of Prayer Church, Mercy
Tabernacle Church, Free Pentecostal Church, New Apostolic Church, Anglican Church
of Kenya, Great Calvary Christian Ministry and Inland Church.
5.
The local believers were empowered to stand firm
in faith and embrace the lifestyle of evangelism.
6.
Pupils and students were ministered to
effectively. We visited Konya Secondary School, St. Joseph Indangalasia
Secondary School, Luthehe Primary School, Nyapora primary school, Nyambula
primary School and Konya Primary School.
7.
Moral values were taught to the youth and they
were encouraged to embrace diligence at work.
8.
The cooperation from locals enabled us to reach
many people.
9.
Solutions to major strongholds were reached as
we witnessed witchdoctors turn to Christ.
5.1.1 TESTIMONIES
1.
Mr. Oduor Mjimbe, who had been a serious alcohol
addict, was delivered by God’s mighty hand. He has since left alcohol and
become a committed church member at the Anglican Church of Kenya, Luthehe.
2.
Mrs. Regina Oluma now believes in God’s
supremacy. She forsook witchcraft, got saved and now lives in reverence to
God’s word.
These and many other testimonies
assert that God indeed visited Ugenya for such a time as this.
5.2 CHALLENGES
1. Fundraising was tasking as it equally demanded
time as well as studies did.
2. Mobilization of missioners was a
challenge since some had registered to attend to other commitments.
3. Heavy rains caused slight
disruption to crusades and transportation via road.
4. Video recording was not easy
since we have not yet acquired a video recorder. All recordings were done by a
camera which compromised their quality.
5.3 RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Missioners
should seriously seek God, before, during and after mission to experience
breakthrough and even as a shield from any form of satanic attack.
2. Unity
and teamwork was the spirit behind the success, it should continue to higher
levels.
3.
Missioners should consider preparing early
financially to avoid last minute rush.

11.0 CONCLUSION
Our
heartfelt gratitude and appreciation goes to all who helped make it possible
for us to take the 73 missioners to the Ugenya Mission and bring over 326 souls
to Christ. Your prayers too kept us strong and vigilant. It couldn’t have been
a great success without you. May Jehovah God shower you with His Blessings in
Jesus’ Name and also recompense you with a full reward (Ruth 2:12).
Signed.
